This robust reporting system was designed to increase transparency across the client organisation by helping managers and employees see the links between activities and the associated costs.

The production DWOR provided Short Interval Control on all production equipment and therefore:

• drove an increase in focus on the shop floor;
• prompted employees to make appropriate decisions based on reliable and timely data;
• enabled local problem solving to address root causes of inefficiency.

The effectiveness of the daily production meeting, in which this report was reviewed, was also dramatically improved. With IMS coaching support, Production Managers were able to set appropriate actions with regular follow-ups which ensured that operational strategy was more fully implemented.

The simple introduction of the performance management system drove immediate operational improvements which in turn led to financial benefits. However, more significant and sustainable results were achieved when client teams took the data from the production DWOR into local problem solving and process improvement sessions. The work of these client led teams using the data generated by the production DWOR generated 13% productivity improvements in the first year.
