We all know that...

...if we review the right data and do the right analysis, then we will make the right decision and we will take the right action.

As experienced managers we know that there are many off-the-shelf software packages that promise to deliver relevant information directly to us.

But we also know that off-the-shelf software packages often end up on the shelves of our offices.

How do we obtain a robust and cost effective performance management system that is appropriate for our own business?
And how do we ensure that this system is used by our people?

Why IT solutions are often ineffective. IT solutions fail when they:

  • Aren’t designed to meet the specific needs of the business
  • Do not fit with the style of the users
  • Do not complement existing management systems and working routines
  • Are just too complicated
  • Are not fully implemented

Many IMS business improvement programmes are underpinned by robust performance management systems that present key management information to the relevant decision makers in a timely manner.

These reports facilitate informed decision making and allow managers to understand the effectiveness of actions taken in a previous period.

Key decision makers are now able to review the right data and do the right analysis; they are therefore more likely to make the right decisions and put those decisions into action. In this way, performance improves.
